Old Coulsdon Residents' Association

Who's Who in OCRA

If you want to put a face to the names you've  read about, both here and in our Newsletters, here's the place to do so.

Chairman

Pat Ward-Lee has lived in Old Coulsdon with his wife, Sally, (our editor) for many years. He is strongly committed to protecting our beautiful surroundings and our quality of life. Pat was appointed as Vice Chairman at the AGM in April 2003, but has worked for some time behind the scenes, constructing photo stands for our stall at the Rotary Fair and helping with the Millennium Cairn outside Bairstow Eves. He has also tackled the Council on many occasions, particularly regarding the felling of trees on Grange Park without the prior consultation of residents. He was appointed Chairman at our last AGM.

Secretary

Valerie Willis took over the Secretary's job when our previous secretary left us for the corridors of Academia in 2005.

Valerie takes all the minutes of our meetings and circulates them to us all in time for the next meeting.

Transport

Ian Duncanson has been with the committee for a number of years and is currently our Liaison man with London Transport. Keeping us up to date and in contact with all the public travel services in London and our local area.

Disability and Access

Janet Stollery joined us late last year as a new Committee member and soon made an impact with her knowledge of all aspects of helping the Disabled.  One of the functions of OCRA has always been to be aware of problems the more physically disadvantaged of our residents suffer.. Janet with her wide experience is providing help with information as to how best we may advise and seek help from the council etc in these matters.

Coulsdon Millenium and other Committees

Maintaining contact with Coulsdon Millenium Committee, Ian Atkins somehow manages to keep us informed of all manner of local news and views whilst at the same time managing his own very busy schedule.

Coulsdon Coppice & Police Liaison

Mike Dolan acts as our representative on our local Coulsdon Coppice Committee (7 acres of Ancient Local Woodland) and also represents OCRA on our local Sector Policing and Safer Neighbourhood Panels

Newsletter Editor

We are very lucky to have an experienced national newspaper journalist as the editor of our Newsletter. Sally Ward-Lee has been in post for 6 years now and has done a wonderful job, following in the able footsteps of Christine and Ray Dudman.

Planning & Green Spaces

Mike Blake is currently the longest serving member  of the Residents Association. An old Boy of the Purley Boys school he has in the past served as Chairman of OCRA  and has served in many of the offices on the committee. He currently reviews all Planning applications in the area and acts on behalf of the residents

Treasurer

Brian Smith our long suffering treasurer tries his best to bring some semblance of order to our wild aspirations.  With his dry sense of humour and literary observations he diligently maintains the funds which keep OCRA running smoothly.  He is a keen gardener, photographer and lover of classical music.
